| Tips and Tricks on Installing Horizontal Window Blinds |
To some, installing horizontal window blinds may seem like a challenge. The reality of it is, it's really quite simple, and with some basic tools and a little bit of time your windows can be covered, keeping unwanted light and prying eyes out. This article will discuss the tools required, different mounting methods, and the steps involved in installing horizontal window blinds.
To start, you’re going to need a few basic tools including a tape measure (type doesn’t matter), a pencil, a screwdriver, a drill, and of course, the blinds themselves. You may also want to consider using a level for installation. With tools in hand, it’s time to determine how to mount the blinds, and there are several ways of doing this. Inside Mounting involves mounting the blinds within the window frame. Outside Mounting involves mounting over the top of the window (outside the frame), and a Ceiling Mount involves mounting from the ceiling.
You should have mounts that have holes to mark for any method of installation. Just mark the holes, drill them, and install the mount. Also, depending on the width of your blinds, you may need to drill and mount support brackets in the middle to help support the weight. Often the blinds will be pre-cut for these supports making installation a snap. With everything mounted and installed, it’s time to shorten the length of the blinds. This is done by removing the caps from the very bottom slat and removing the string tucked inside. Remove the excess slats until you’ve got the length you need, then cut the excess string to where you’ve got roughly an inch of slack at the bottom and tuck this back in, under the cap. Now just attach the tilt wand and any other miscellaneous parts that came with the set and you should be good to go!
Installing some window blinds yourself can be an easy, but in many instances, it is better to call the professionals to measure and install your window blinds. In most instances, better blinds and professional installation can be had by choosing Orlando Blinds to do all the hard work.
